For many people, traditional antidepressants take weeks to work — or may not provide enough relief at all. At Lonerock Clinic, we offer advanced treatments like Ketamine Therapy and Spravato® (esketamine) that target depression in a different way. These therapies act on the brain's glutamate system to create new neural connections, often providing faster and more effective symptom relief for those struggling with treatment-resistant depression.
Our experienced providers take a personalized, integrative approach to psychiatric care, combining innovative treatments with therapy, personalized medication management, and whole-person support that recognizes the connection between mental and physical health. We focus on restoring balance — mentally, emotionally, and physically — so you can start feeling like yourself again.

Understanding your care
How Ketamine and Spravato® Work
Unlike traditional antidepressants that focus on serotonin, Ketamine and Spravato® (esketamine) act on a different neurotransmitter system, glutamate, to help the brain form new neural pathways. This process can rapidly improve mood, energy, and clarity — often within hours or days rather than weeks.
Rapid Relief of Symptoms
Many patients report feeling improvement in mood, motivation, and outlook after just a few sessions, offering hope where other treatments have failed.
Restores Brain Connectivity
These therapies help the brain rebuild and strengthen neural connections, supporting long-term emotional stability and resilience.
Complements Other Treatments
Ketamine and Spravato® are integrated into a comprehensive psychiatric treatment plan that may also include medication management, psychotherapy, and whole-person support.
What Is Treatment-Resistant Depression?
Treatment-resistant depression generally refers to depression that hasn't improved after trying at least two appropriate antidepressant medications. It doesn't mean your depression is untreatable—it simply means a different approach may be needed.

Ketamine vs. Spravato® vs. TMS: How to Choose
If you're comparing options for depression that hasn't fully responded to medication, three come up most often. Here's an honest look — including when each tends to fit best.
Ketamine therapy (KAP)
Fast-acting; works on the brain's glutamate system. Best when you want rapid relief plus therapy-integrated care that addresses the root, not just symptoms. Often out-of-network, but we provide reimbursement documentation.
Spravato® (esketamine)
An FDA-approved nasal spray for treatment-resistant depression, covered by most major insurers and delivered under monitoring. Best when you want an FDA-approved, insurance-friendly glutamate-based option.
TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation)
A medication-free, FDA-cleared treatment using magnetic pulses, typically over several weeks. Best when you prefer a non-drug approach and longer-lasting results over rapid relief. Lonerock doesn't offer TMS in-house, but we'll tell you honestly if it's the better fit and help you find it.
The point isn't to push one treatment — it's to figure out the right path for you. That's what your evaluation at Lonerock is for.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the most effective treatments for depression?
The most effective depression treatment depends on the individual. At Lonerock Clinic, care may include medication management, advanced treatments such as ketamine therapy or Spravato®, lifestyle interventions, and psychotherapy support when appropriate. Treatment plans are personalized based on symptom severity, medical history, and previous treatment response to ensure comprehensive, whole-person care.
How do I know if I need professional treatment for depression?
You may benefit from professional depression treatment if symptoms such as persistent sadness, loss of interest, low energy, sleep changes, or difficulty concentrating last more than two weeks or interfere with daily functioning. A clinical evaluation helps determine the severity of symptoms and the most appropriate level of care.
How quickly does depression treatment start working?
Traditional antidepressants may take several weeks to reach full effectiveness. Some advanced treatments, including ketamine-based therapies, may provide faster symptom relief for certain individuals. Response time varies, and consistent follow-up allows your provider to adjust treatment for optimal results.
What is the difference between ketamine therapy and Spravato®?
Ketamine therapy typically involves IV administration of ketamine, while Spravato® is an FDA-approved nasal spray containing esketamine. Both target the brain's glutamate system and are often used for treatment-resistant depression. Your provider will determine which option is most appropriate based on your diagnosis and treatment history.
Is depression treatment safe?
Yes, depression treatment is safe when guided by qualified medical professionals. At Lonerock Clinic, treatment plans are carefully evaluated, monitored, and adjusted as needed to support both effectiveness and patient safety throughout the recovery process.
