A Commitment to Inclusivity
Pride Month, celebrated each June, commemorates the Stonewall Riots of 1969—a pivotal moment in the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights. This month-long celebration began in 1970 to honor the courage of those who stood up against discrimination and to promote the ongoing pursuit of equality for the LGBTQIA+ community. Healthcare should be a safe and welcoming space for everyone, and that’s exactly what we are committed to at Lonerock Clinic. This June, during Pride Month, we celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and their unwavering pursuit of equality.
More than a Rainbow: Our Commitment to Inclusion
Pride Month is more than just vibrant parades and colorful flags. It's a time to reflect on the progress made towards LGBTQIA+ equality and the work that still needs to be done. At Lonerock Clinic, we're committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity, where everyone feels respected and valued. This means:
Using inclusive language: We strive to use respectful language that reflects the gender identity of our patients.
Providing culturally competent care: We understand that LGBTQIA+ individuals may have unique healthcare needs. Our staff is committed to ongoing education to ensure we can deliver sensitive and appropriate care.
Creating a safe space: We want our patients to feel comfortable discussing their health concerns without fear of judgment.
Join Us in Spreading Love and Acceptance
We are proud to stand with our LGBTQIA+ friends, colleagues, and patients. We believe everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
This Pride Month, let's celebrate the beautiful diversity of our community. Let's stand together and promote acceptance, understanding, and love for all. Here are some ways you can join us:
Educate yourself: Learn more about the LGBTQIA+ community and the challenges they face.
Challenge assumptions: We all have unconscious biases. Be mindful of yours and challenge assumptions you may have.
Speak out against discrimination: If you witness or hear discriminatory language, don't be silent. Speak up and advocate for equality.
Educating yourself about Pride Month is a crucial step in becoming a more informed and supportive ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. There are numerous resources available to deepen your understanding and appreciation of the history, struggles, and triumphs of LGBTQIA+ individuals. The One Circle Foundation offers a comprehensive guide to essential Pride Month resources for facilitators and allies, including books, articles, documentaries, and online courses. These resources cover a wide range of topics, from the historical significance of the Stonewall Riots to current issues facing the LGBTQIA+ community.
